R. Kelly has, however, returned to court again, claiming that his medical health is at risk, owing to the COVID-19 pandemic. R. Kelly has maintained that he would not leave town, hence, the judge should acknowledge his plea and release him from jail over the cases of COVID-19 reported in the facility.
During his first attempt to get the court to release him from jail, the court maintained that there was no case of COVID-19 in the Chicago Jail. However, situations have changed as that appears to longer be the case in Chicago Jail.
According to reports, Chicago MCC has admitted that there are at least 6 confirmed positive cases now among inmates, as well as with 7 staff members of the facility, and to make matters worse this is predictably going to get worse. Therefore, it is stated that R.Kelly believes that if his release from jail is not consented to, there is a strong chance that he may end up getting infected by COVID-19.
R. Kelly has also stated that he would not utilize commercial airlines or fly at all since he is scared of flying, plus the fact that he does not have any passport or any means to fly. R. Kelly has promised that if his release from jail is ordered over the COVID-19 cases, He would accept a 24/7 surveillance, and also attach a GPS Monitoring device to him, to make sure that he goes nowhere other than homes, nor to visit anyone other than his lawyers.
