Veteran Dies After Suffering A Heart Attack At Disney World Attraction With His Wife

After riding the PeopleMover attraction, an elderly Florida man with a history of cardiac issues passed away while enjoying Disney World with his family, according to Orlando police officials.

According to a sheriff’s report quoted by Florida Politics on Tuesday, Joseph Masters, an 83-year-old from Palm Coast, seemed to have a heart attack on September 25 after riding the slow-moving tram that winds through Tomorrowland at the Magic Kingdom.

Masters was transported to a neighbouring hospital in Celebration, where medical professionals tried unsuccessfully for 30 minutes to save his life.

“It was later learned Joseph had a pacemaker implanted and was diagnosed with an extensive list of medical conditions to include diabetes and hypertension,” the sheriff’s report said. “Joseph’s death was deemed natural given the aforementioned circumstances.”

Masters “had a large blockage of an artery, near the right side of his heart,” according to a doctor cited in the report.

According to his obituary, the veteran of the military who had been married to Alice for 49 years was a devout Catholic who loved spending time with his family and going to Disney World.
