Trail Of Blood Near Car Of Missing Virginia Father Led To Nearby Woods, Family SaysAccording to relatives, the family of a Virginia father who went missing days before Christmas discovered a blood trail leading from his abandoned car to nearby woods.

Jose Guerrero‘s girlfriend stated that a “big amount of blood” was discovered in the back seat of his abandoned Hyundai two days after his disappearance on December 21 in Woodbridge, 23 miles south of Washington, D.C.

The Prince William County Police Department’s First Sgt. Jonathan Perok declined to comment on the discoveries, saying in an email that the agency would release “pertinent details as needed” to aid in what it previously described as an investigation into Guerrero’s suspicious disappearance.

“Our message is and continues to be asking for anyone with information to come forward,” he added.

Guerrero’s girlfriend, Sheila Perez, said he didn’t say what he was going to do before leaving, but that he told her he’d be back in five to ten minutes.

Perez, Guerrero’s 10-month-old daughter, said she reported him missing when he didn’t return. According to Perez, the family later discovered his car less than two miles from his home.

Perez accused Prince William County police of failing to take her missing person report seriously, accusing them of believing he’d run away “or some other excuse,” she said.

Perok stated in the email that when Guerrero, 20, went missing, there was no indication that he was in danger. That changed Friday night after his car was discovered and “additional information was learned,” according to Perok.

“We have since worked this case nonstop through the weekend and currently,” he stated. “We’ve conducted numerous searches, and have followed up on multiple leads that have not yielded his location. What we need right now is information and cooperation which we have not fully been getting from those connected to Jose.”
