Fans who claim TLC’s Chilli is putting distance between Matthew Lawrence and his ex, ‘DWTS’ star Cheryl Burke, are barking up the wrong tree, even though Cheryl appears to be making negative comments about the new relationship.
According to a person familiar with the circumstances, even though Chilli and Matthew were acquainted, they weren’t romantically involved with one another when Matthew filed for divorce.
At a ’90s conference in March, a month after Cheryl filed for divorce, Chilli and Matthew did reunite. However, according to sources, they took their time becoming serious because Matthew was still healing from his previous marriage.
Matthew and Cheryl weren’t living together when the affair started, and Chilli was even seeing other people before they made things official during the holidays.
In reality, Cheryl claims that as of September, she and Matthew were legally free.
The “Boy Meets World” actor and Chilli celebrated Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s Eve in Atlanta with her family, according to TMZ.
Soon after the incident, Cheryl sent a brief and unflattering message on Instagram with the caption, “That was fast.”
People online assumed there was some sort of relationship overlap based on those three phrases, but according to our sources, there was no funny business since Chilli wanted to make sure there was no ambiguity before being exclusive with Matthew.
