Stacey Abrams, the former Georgia gubernatorial candidate, is under ‘fire’ after she defended the former vice president and current Presidential candidate, Joe Biden, against sexual assault allegations.

The former guber candidate made the comments in an interview with Don Lemon of CNN on Tuesday night, when she was asked about her opinion on the sexual assault allegations against Joe Biden, from a former staffer, Tara Reade, who alleged that the then-senator sexually assaulted her in 1993.

Don Lemon asked Stacey Abrams “CNN has now spoken on the record with her former neighbor who says Reade told her about the allegation within a few years of the alleged incident, Biden’s campaign says untrue, never happened. Is this a credible allegation?”

To this question, Stacey Abram replied saying “I believe that women deserve to be heard and I believe that they need to be listened to. But I also believe that those allegations have to be investigated by credible sources. The New York Times did a deep investigation, and they found that the accusations were not credible. I believe Joe Biden.”

To these comments, various persons have registered their displeasure with the former guber candidate via tweets. “Stacey Abrams debased herself in the most sickening way…I’m legitimately disgusted!!” wrote one person.

Another person tweeted, “Stacey Abrams is just another Black person willing to do the bidding of white supremacy. Pathetic.” “A black capitalist will go to any lengths to secure money and power. There is no bottom for people like her,” argued another person.

According to Buzzfeed, it reported that the campaign organization for Joe Biden had sent talking points to members of the Democratic party that assert the innocence of Joe Biden. The excerpts of the talking point published by the outlet appear to be similar to the comments made by Stacey Abram.

The point reads “Biden believes that all women have the right to be heard and to have their claims thoroughly reviewed. In this case, a thorough review by the New York Times has led to the truth: this incident did not happen.” Also, a New York Times spokesperson has denied the fact about the investigative piece that ended up exonerating Joe Biden.

According to the Spokesperson, “BuzzFeed reported on the existence of talking points being circulated by the Biden campaign that inaccurately suggest a New York Times investigation found that Tara Reade’s allegation ‘did not happen. Our investigation made no conclusion either way.”
