A Spirit Airlines employee was suspended after being caught on camera punching a female during an altercation at Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) airport on Thursday.
A video of the incident suggests the airline employee and a female arguing and screaming at each other.
As the female customer squares up to the man and touches his face, the worker was heard telling the lady: “You have lost your mind, don’t touch me ever in your life.
The female then tries to back away even as any other person intervenes to split them.
But the two kept arguing, and the female slapped the airline employee around the head, enraging him. He at once chases her down, and both fall to the ground.
When they get back on their feet, the airline worker strikes the female from behind.
More onlookers try and interfere and prevent the worker, but he tells one of them: “Knock me out.”
The airline stated that it was aware of the altercation and had suspended the worker.
“Our vendor at DFW has suspended the agent. Spirit Airlines does not tolerate violence of any kind, and we’re working with neighbourhood law enforcement to investigate this matter,” the airline stated in a statement on Twitter.
Airport protection personnel were not present whilst the incident happened but have all started investigating the matter.
The airline worker reportedly informed police that the female from Fort Worth was irritated throughout the boarding procedure and got off the plane complaining that there had been no seat.
According to witnesses, he is stated to have requested her to get in the queue to talk with the gate agent, but she was uncooperative and cut through the line.
The incident escalated when the airline worker tried to take the female’s boarding pass, the police stated.
“She was verbally assaulting him, bodily assaulting him, and he simply snapped,” Mr Shannon stated.
The female has alleged that the airline worker was the aggressor, but his actions were not captured on video.
