Skier Found Dead At Utah Resort Day After He Was Reported Missing

A 37-year-old skier was discovered dead Tuesday morning at a Salt Lake City resort, the day after he was reported missing.

When he was discovered, he suffered injuries consistent with an impact, according to a statement released by Solitude Mountain Resort on Tuesday.

According to Salt Lake County law officials, the man was skiing with a companion.

When he failed to appear at a pre-arranged meeting location on Monday, the Solitude Mountain Resort Ski Patrol was notified, and officials initiated search-and-rescue operations that lasted into the night, according to the resort.

According to the resort, the skier was wearing a helmet and was discovered unresponsive with “injuries that suggest impact, and sadly, was pronounced dead.”

“We send our deepest condolences to the family,” the reSort added.

The cause of death has not been determined.

In the last 48 hours, a winter storm dumped a lot of snow on Utah. According to the snowfall chart at Solitude Mountain Resort, the resort received roughly 13 inches of snow Monday night.
