This weekend, skaters from Cali to Texas rode on their boards in unison to peacefully protest and show support for the Black Lives Matter movement. Absolutely an unreal scene!
The gesture proved to be another few days filled with anti-racism demonstrations to decry the death of George Floyd and others. Although we have seen lots of people coming together to protest, none were quite as creative as skateboarders uniting together and going for a communal ride through the streets of San Diego, Los Angeles, and Austin.
They call it “Skate for Peace, or Push for Peace.” Pretty straightforward.
It sounds exciting but when you witness it in action, it’s like something out of a movie, to be honest. The sound of wheels rolling across the pavement was purely awesome!
As these types of solidarity have been going on for weeks nationwide, this weekend’s skate protest was noteworthy because of its sheer numbers. Likewise, the fact that they took up entire streets without too much pushback as it seemed.
Thumps up to all the skaters out there!
