The Dunkin’ Reddit forum turned quite depressing after a query on whether the coffee shop business was a “deaf-friendly” place to work surface. They added that finding a job was challenging for them because “most employers don’t hire deaf persons.”
If other employees at Dunkin’ were amenable to using alternative forms of communication, such as ASL or writing, they stated, the company would be a terrific place to work. The majority of people, however, gave their opposition. The store manager, according to a former employee who has hearing issues, “treated [them] so poorly,” even in front of customers.
Another person who worked there characterized it as “a fast-paced job with regular adjustments to orders and communication with coworkers is crucial.”
However, Redditors did provide some valuable advice. If Dunkin’ was the only choice, many suggested working at a small, independently-owned coffee shop or baking or making sandwiches.
Another person’s comment, “If your store can’t accommodate you, then that is their problem, ” was the finest reaction.
