While Adolf Hitler remains the most famous person in German History, known for the systematic policies that led to the death of millions of people, he remains etched in history.

However, despite how infamous Hitler is, there’s still plenty that remains unknown about Hitler. This article sheds light on some random facts about Hitler.

Hitler was not German

With the way Adolf Hitler fought adamantly to ensure Germany remained “untainted” by any other race and that the German community was made up of only purebred Germans, it’s a shock to realize that Adolf Hitler was not a German.
He was born in Austria to an Austrian couple.

Hitler’s dream was to be an artist

Earlier in life, Hitler dreamt of being an artist. He applied to the Vienna Academy of Art and was rejected numerous times.

One of his favourite tunes to whistle was the very popular “Who’s Afraid of the Big Bad Wolf?”

This earned him the name “The Wolf”. Hitler loved whistling, and during dinners to celebrate German victories in the Second World War, he would whistle Walt Disney’s “When You Wish Upon a Star” for dinner guests and friends.

Hitler wanted to be a priest

Before Hitler dreamt of being an artist, he wanted to be a priest. This was a result of his religious background and how Catholicism was a significant theme in his childhood.

He also attended vocal lessons so he could sing in the church choir. When he grew older, he came to hate the Catholic Church.

Hitler served in the military during World War I

In 1913, after Adolf Hitler moved to Germany, he served in the military. He, however, in October 1918, suffered from temporary blindness and briefly lost his voice because of a British mustard gas attack.

His experience in the war influenced his leadership ideologies.

He went to prison for five years after a failed Coup d’etat.

Hitler and some of his followers attempted to take over the government of Bavaria in southern Germany by staging a coup d’etat known as the Beer Hall Putsch.

This coup failed, and about 20 people lost their lives as a result of it. It ended with Hitler being arrested for Five years on treason charges.

Hitler was an animal rights activist and a vegetarian

Funny. He followed a vegetarian diet. However, at social events, he sometimes narrated graphic accounts of animal slaughtering to discourage his dinner guests from eating meat.
