Powerball Jackpot Rises To Record $1.9 Billion As No Tickets Matched All Winning Numbers Saturday

According to the California Lottery Association, the Powerball jackpot has increased to an estimated $1.9 billion after there were no winning tickets purchased for Saturday night’s drawing.

28-45-53-56-69 were the winning numbers, and 20 was the Powerball. On Monday, the next Powerball drawing will take place.

According to Powerball, the projected $1.6 billion draw on Saturday contained the “highest lotto prize ever awarded.”

The odds of winning the enormous prize, however, are still extremely slim—just 1 in 292.2 million—which is disappointing for ticket holders.

It would “equal the game record for the number of consecutive draws without a grand prize winner” if there were no wins on Saturday, according to Powerball.

Since the jackpot was last won on August 3, the 40th Powerball drawing took place on Saturday at the Florida Lottery draw studio in Tallahassee.

Prior to the numbers being drawn, California Lottery tweeted that Saturday’s prize, which had a lump-sum option of an estimated $782.4 million, “breaks the world record for the Largest National Lottery Jackpot in the Guinness World Records.”

The “Greatest jackpot in a national lottery” record, held by Powerball, was established in January 2016 when three tickets shared a $1.586 billion jackpot.

In 45 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the US Virgin Islands, Powerball tickets are available for $2 each.
