1. 1941 Bombing At Babi Yar:

On this day, the Nazis began a two-day murder at Kiev’s Babi Yar ravine, ending with around 33,000 Soviet Jews being massacred.

2. Haitian Coup In 1991:

In a military takeover, President Jean-Bertrand Aristide was removed. Eight months before the coup, Aristide had won a national election.

3. First Canadian Satellite In 1962:

On this day, the Canadian Space Agency launched Alouette 1 from the Vandenberg Air Force Base in California, the United States. The satellite was launched as part of a collaboration between NASA and Defence Research and Development Canada to study the planet’s ionosphere.

4. In 1954, CERN Was Founded:

Twelve European governments formed the European Organization for Nuclear Research popularly known as CERN

5. 1994 Loss Of The MS Estonia:

Over 800 people perished when the passenger and automobile ferry MS Estonia sank in the Baltic Sea. It is regarded as the worst maritime disaster to occur during a time of peace.
