Reports have that Right fielder Juan Soto turned down a mouth-watering agreement extension offer from the Washington Nationals, and the team is now open to trading him.
According to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic, Soto rejected a 15-year, $440 million deal, marking the 1/3 time in the latest months that he baulked at a proposal from the Nats.
Rosenthal stated that the agreement could have made Soto the highest-paid player in baseball records in terms of overall money, and he could be the 20th-highest-paid player on an annual basis with an income of $29.three million. Soto is under team management through 2024.
However, Rosenthal stated the Nationals plan to entertain trade offers for him leading up to the Aug. 2 trade deadline.
