According to police, a pop-up urinal crushed a man to death in London‘s theatre district on Friday.
After becoming trapped beneath a hydraulic urinal at Cambridge Circus, a busy intersection in the city’s West End, firefighters used a winch to free the man.
The man “is thought to have sustained crush injuries while working on a telescopic urinal,” according to the Metropolitan Police. He was pronounced dead at the scene “despite the efforts of emergency services,” according to the police.
His identity has not been revealed.
The retractable urinals can be found throughout London’s entertainment districts, where they are stored beneath the ground during the day and raised at night.
