What do you do when you have your city at the back of your mind? You’ll certainly look out for the residents! Killer Mike & T.I. have always been at their best to help and show that the best interest in Atlanta is at their heart.
Killer Mike & T.I., together with the help of the Atlanta-based nonprofit organization PAWKids, handed out meals in the parking lot of the Bankhead Seafood Market Wednesday. The effort fed 500 residents in Grove Park of Atlanta. It was not only the feeding after all, as TMZ reported that the duo also gave several families $500 in funds and equally visited many homes to drop off two weeks’ worth of food and hygiene products.
Moreover, the residents of the Grove Park neighborhood had long needed help even before the coronavirus crisis, and now the demand has only got higher. However, Killer Mike & T.I. made sure they never disappointed.
At Grove Park, it is assumed the residents have limited access to health, affordable, and fresh food options. They are often referred to as “food desert” as the neighborhood’s local supermarket and grocery store, Food Giant, shut down four years ago.
Meanwhile, Killer Mike & T.I. had purchased the Bankhead Seafood Market following its closure in 2018. Now, they are reportedly planning to re-open it early next year. Thus, they are prioritizing feeding the people of Grove Park as their plans to re-open has been slowed down by the pandemic.
“T.I. and I went in and bought a business and wanted to keep it going. And in the middle of that, a pandemic happened,” Mike said to the Georgia Public Broadcasting. “So, whether money is being made, the priority is human beings and people. People need to eat.”
Incredibly, PAWKids will continue to supply families in Grove Park Neighborhood with 1,000 meals weekly throughout this pandemic.
