The criticisms of Aubrey O’Day‘s appearance that have been made over the years are still a source of anxiety for her.
The Danity Kane singer, 38, reminisced on a 2020 Daily Mail piece that had “unrecognizable” photos of her and sparked criticism from people who complained about her size and said she Photoshopped pictures of herself to be thinner in a recent interview with E! News.
“It was my downfall day,” she admitted. “When it came time to laugh at me, everybody was laughing.”
O’Day stated that those images were “not the first overweight photos,” adding that her body “had been on the chopping block” since she was a teenager.
The singer of “Show Stopper” claimed that she will “spend the rest of her life” “trying to recover with how many untrue things” have been spoken about her throughout her years in the public eye.
O’Day replied to the initial publication of the pictures by posting a photo of herself in a bathing suit holding a sign that stated, “This is degrading.”
Text over the picture read, “It’s so sick what ppl will do for clickbait! And that my lawyer needed this photo to defend me against it… When is this industry going to stop abusing women’s bodies?”
The pictures were only cropped, a source previously claimed, adding that they had not been “altered” in any way. They were not even slightly colour-corrected.
Today, according to O’Day, she is learning to love her body and use music to help her recover from the hurt.
The singer recently appeared bare for her “Couples Goals” music video, despite initially intending to use a body double, as she admitted.
