It’s a First Alert Day in the Valley for risky heat. An Excessive Heat Warning is in effect today and the day after today for the Valley and through Thursday in Southwestern Arizona. Look for clear skies, mild winds, and an afternoon of 111 degrees in the Valley today. The regular or average high this time of year in Phoenix is 104 degrees, and the day-by-day record is 113 for today.
A strong ridge of excessive pressure located to our northwest will maintain temperatures warm and conditions often dry throughout the rest of this week. Temperatures will come down some degrees a day after today, with a Valley high of 108 expected. Temperatures stay hot through the holiday weekend, with afternoon highs starting from 106 to 109 degrees.
Storm probabilities stay slim the rest of this week in the Valley and throughout the state. There appears to be moderate growth in storm probabilities by Friday and into the weekend in the high country. In the Valley, there’s an entirely moderate hazard of some remoted storms Friday night and Saturday morning. We’ll keep you updated; however, we’re primarily in a break from the monsoon pattern through at least early next week.
