Former NBA star, Kermit Washington, has been denied in a hard way his request to be temporarily released from prisons amid coronavirus concerns.

A jury has rejected the request of the 68-year old former NBA All-Star, who is currently serving six years in prison for running a bogus charity scheme, from where he stole over $1 million that was meant to support starving and HIV positive children in Africa.

Last month, Washington filed court docs begging the judge to release him ahead of schedule, stating health concerns over the ravaging coronavirus pandemic.

Kermit Washington had argued that he is at a “high risk of death or serious illness from COVID-19,” noting the “extreme rate of infection” and the number of deaths of inmates in the nationwide prison system.

But despite those requests and statements of concern, the court has now ruled against his petition to earn an early prison release – which is awful news for Kermit.

Meanwhile, court docs obtained by TMZ Sports, revealed that officials have decided that the risk of catching coronavirus is not enough reason to earn Kermit Washington and early release.

“The risk of the spread of COVID-19 alone is not enough to constitute extraordinary and compelling reasons for release.”

As it stands now, Washington still has a few more years left on his prison term, and he will obviously serve it behind the bars. Unless if the officials decide to grant his request in the future.
