According to police, the driver of the car in a crash that killed six people in southeastern Nebraska last month was drunk, according to a news release.
According to the results of a toxicology report, 26-year-old Jonathan Kurth of Lincoln had a blood alcohol content .211 at the time of the crash — more than 212 times the legal driving limit of.08.
According to police, electronic data collected from the car showed it was travelling at 100 mph (161 kph) in the moments before it crashed into a tree on a residential street with a speed limit of 25 mph (40 kph).
The early morning Oct. 2 crash was first reported to police when one of the passengers’ cell phones automatically alerted dispatchers that the phone’s owner had been in a crash and was not responding.
Kurth and four male passengers, Octavias Farr, 21, Jonathan Koch, 22, Nicholas Bisesi, 22, and Benjamin Lenagh, 23, died at the scene. Cassie Brenner, a fifth passenger, died later at a hospital.
Except for Lenagh, all of the deceased were Lincoln residents.
