BIOGRAPHY
Though popularly known as Santan Dave or Dave, the rapper’s real name is David Orobosa Omoregie originally from Nigeria (Yoruba to be precise) and was born on 5th June 1998. As a rapper, he is mostly known in the British/UK hip-hop scene.
Dave achieved relevance with the release of his debut Six Paths EP in 2016. The release of the EP was more like icing on the cake, as the rapper was already famous of some sort through the various singles he kept releasing. And so when the body of work came through his EP, his shot at fame was sealed. This was certified with the premier of his Wanna Know remix by Drake on OVO Sound Radio, who was also featured on the song.
The following year, he released another EP titled Game Over. With his celebrity status already sealed, his next release the following year titled Funky Friday featuring Fredo peaked at the No.1 spot on the UK Singles Chart and simultaneously earned him his very first platinum-certified release. He released his debut album in 2019 titled Psychodrama which had the biggest first-week sale for a rap album, debuting on the No.1 UK Album Chart.
Known mostly for his excellent wordplay and lyricism, Dave has received various accolades worthy of his craft. He has won a number of Brit Awards, and a Mercury Prize award. He also tried out acting, featuring in the Netflix series titled Top Boy.
