A cop has senselessly shot another man as cities across the United States march for justice following the murder of George Floyd and the overall unjust brutality of the police to the people of color.

San Franciso resident, Sean Monterrosa was fatally shot by a California police, Vallejo, early Tuesday morning. On Thursday, Chief Shawny Williams opened up on the incident, saying the 22-year-old Monterrosa had already knelt on the ground when the officer saw what allegedly looked like a gun in his sweatshirt, which was actually a hammer.

Meanwhile, reports from KABC-TV revealed that Monterrosa knelt outside of a Walgreens that he was suspected of breaking into when the cop shot at him five times through from the windshield of his car. Williams claimed that it seemed as if Sean was trying to flee the scene in a car, but changed his mind. Monterrosa was later killed by one of those five bullets shot at him by the officer.

“This individual appeared to be running toward the black sedan but suddenly stopped taking a kneeling position and placing his hands above his waist revealing what appeared to be the butt of handgun investigations later revealed that the weapon was a long 15-inch hammer tucked into the pocket of his sweatshirt,” said Chief Shawny Williams during the press conference.

According to Williams, the officer who shot Monterrosa has not been identified but said they have been on the force for 18 years.

“He did not see Mr. Monterrosa put his hands on it in a threatening way. So the question here is what threat if any did he actually present,” Monterrosa family attorney, John Burris said.

The department, hence, has 45 days to release body camera footage, although Williams wants to issue it sooner than that. But what he wouldn’t answer to is whether the shooting was excessive force or not.

At the moment, the officer who killed Monterrosa and the witness officers have been placed on paid administrative leave. Sadly, what we’re protesting against is still ongoing!
