Authorities said Friday that a suspect has been taken into custody in connection with the gruesome killings of four University of Idaho students.
More than six weeks had passed since Kaylee Goncalves, Madison Mogen, Xana Kernodle, and fellow student Ethan Chapin were discovered dead from stab wounds in their Moscow, Idaho, home.
He was recognized by law authorities as Bryan Christopher Kohberger, age 28. According to the Pennsylvania State Police, Kohberger was apprehended early on Friday morning at a residence in Chestnuthill Township, Monroe County, on suspicion of being a fugitive from justice.
According to investigators, he is being held at the Monroe County Correctional Facility pending extradition to Idaho.
According to a law enforcement source, Kohberger will likely face four homicide charges.

On the website of Washington State University, Bryan Kohlberger was identified as a PhD candidate in the school’s Pullman, Washington campus’s department of criminal justice and criminology.
Moscow, Idaho is a 15-minute drive from Pullman. Kohberger graduated from DeSales University in Center Valley, Pennsylvania, with a bachelor’s degree in 2020, and she completed her graduate work there in June 2022, according to the university.
