ABC is looking into Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes‘ relationship to ensure the ‘GMA3’ co-anchors haven’t broken any company rules during their whirlwind romance.
According to sources with direct knowledge, ABC’s human resources and legal departments are collaborating to investigate all aspects of the high-profile coworkers hooking up.
The goal is to determine whether Amy and T.J. violated their contracts in any way, such as using company resources, such as vehicles or drivers, to meet romantically… or pressuring employees to keep the relationship secret.
We’re told that some network employees were irritated by ABC News President Kim Godwin’s comments on Monday’s editorial call, in which she stated that the couple had not violated company policies, because the network hadn’t yet conducted a thorough investigation.
According to our sources, the investigation began last Friday when news broke of T.J.’s alleged affair with a former ‘GMA’ producer years ago.
We’re told Godwin met with other executives over the weekend before deciding to remove Amy and T.J. from the anchor’s desk.
As previously reported, Amy and T.J. were removed from the air on Monday after Godwin referred to the situation as a “internal and external distraction.”
That part is undeniably true, but other executives believe she went too far in telling the team there were no company policy violations — we’re told it was simply too early to tell.
According to our sources, everyone involved welcomes the review, believing it is the best way to clear the anchors’ names and confirm Godwin’s original decision.
