A strange note that reads, “Ahmaud, I am so sorry. I should have stopped them. I am so sorry,” was left at the exact spot where Ahmaud Arbery was shot to death. Logically, it seems to imply that there’s a witness to his murder who hasn’t come to the rescue.

The card was placed at the makeshift memorial for Ahmaud Arbery on the exact street he was shot dead in February. The haunting note was captured by a local news station, News4JAX.

Moreover, the most worrying aspect of it is that there’s no name signed under the card, and no additional information or context is provided. Again, it remains unclear when the note was left there.

Although the gesture could mean a number of things, the most obvious possible thing to think first is that there might have been someone witnessing the incident. However, the person only watched from afar rather than stepping in to help, and now that person is feeling guilty. It could mean something else altogether, but the factual thing remains that someone is regretting not taking a certain action to prevent the death of the 25-year-old Black American young man.

Following the murder of Ahmaud Arbery, Gregory McMichael and his son, Travis McMichael, are now facing murder and aggravated assault charges, with a new prosecutor assigned to their case. Meanwhile, Ahmaud’s mother, Mrs. Cooper-Jones, had previously said she wants a tooth for a tooth in her son’s death. Thus, demanding a death penalty for her son’s murderers.
