A Calm Weekend To Prepare For Hurricane Ian In Florida

We have calm weather over the weekend, giving us plenty of time to prepare for the storm! While the American GFS and European computer models continue to dispute the exact time and path of the building storm, it will become a hurricane and strike most of Florida.

The ultimate track determines the quantity of rain, storm surge, and winds. On Wednesday, the “Cone of Uncertainty” is still 300 miles wide. You may still prepare this weekend by doing the following steps:

  • Fill prescriptions and have drugs and a first-aid kit on hand.

  • Keep a radio with batteries and phone chargers on hand.
  • Maintain a full gas tank.
  • Have money on hand

  • Prepare your home with storm shutters or other protection.

The hurricane’s newest prediction cone has it reaching landfall in southwest Florida Wednesday morning, perhaps growing into a powerful Category 3 storm. A Category 3 hurricane would feature winds ranging from 111 to 129 miles per hour at its core.

Throughout the weekend, the storm’s route will become considerably clearer.
