Despite copping a pretty sweet plea deal, reports have it that the guy accused of shooting at Lil Wayne’s bus in 2015 in not getting out of jail yet.
According to TMZ, Jimmy Winfrey has pled guilty to 2 counts of violation of the Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act. Part of the deal has helped prosecutors drop a slew of other charges, including 4 counts of violation of the RICO Act, 6 other counts of violation of the Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act, 12 counts of aggravated assault, 2 counts of criminal damage to property in the first degree, 1 count of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
Jimmy was sentenced to 7 years in prison, which is a lighter sentence when compared to the one he got in 2015 when the judge hit him with a 20-year sentence. As the Georgia Supreme Court overturned his conviction in 2018, his case went back to roots.
Moreover, Jimmy Winfrey was given credit for the time served and set to be released. Still, his lawyer, Steve Sadow, reports that the reason why his client hasn’t been released involves an unrelated outstanding warrants case. To understand it better, Winfrey is said to enter a special kind of guilty plea where he maintains his innocence, despite pleading guilty.
Thus, as part of the sentence, Winfrey will have to pay $100k in restitution to Alvin Lewis, the bus driver.

On the other hand, Alvin accused Birdman and Young Thug of striking secret deals with prosecutors in the case. The bus driver had revealed that he found it unusual Cobb County prosecutors described Birdman and Thugger as co-conspirators in the alleged shooter’s indictment but did not bring charges against them.
Alvin Lewis equally said without mincing words that there was overwhelming evidence of complicity among Winfrey, Birdman, and Young Thug. Evidence includes phone records, recorded confessions, and promises of payment.
Since the incident, Young Thug has never commented publicly about it, while sources close to Birdman said the rapper denied any involvement in the case.
Following the shooting in 2015, Alvin Lewis, Lil Wayne’s bus driver, claims he suffered spinal cord, rotator cuff, and psychological injuries when Tunechi’s bus was shot up in Atlanta.
