Nearly 10 days after the May 25 death of George Floyd, the billionaire rapper has announced that he has donated $2 million to charities associated with Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, and George Floyd. He equally pledges to take care of the legal costs for the Arbery and Taylor families.
Furthermore, Kanye West has set up a 529 college savings fund to cover tuition for Floyd’s 6-year-old daughter, Gianna.
Also, his rep tells TMZ that he will Kanye be making donations to black-owned businesses in his hometown of Chicago and nationwide, those who have been affected by the unrest in the States.
Meanwhile, Kanye West has not spoken publicly over the crisis, but his wife Kim Kardashian West has joined the fight for justice. Her companies Skims, KKW Beauty, and KKW Fragrance will also be donating to organizations aiming at changes and fighting racial justice. “We firmly believe that #BlackLivesMatter and we are committed to supporting and participating in the change that needs to take place,” Kim said in her statement.

Elsewhere, some other celebrities have made significant financial contributions in the wake of countrywide protests against police violence and brutality. Drake, The Weekend, and Colin Kaepernick are among those making donations. While the likes of J. Cole, Tinashe, and Lil Yachty have all joined the streets demanding justice.
