Pope Francis Says Homosexuality Is Not A Crime in A New Interview

Pope Francis discussed his health, his detractors, and the future of the papacy in his first interview since the passing of former Pope Benedict XVI.

He also denounced homosexuality-related legislation as unfair.

According to Pope Francis, being homosexual is not a “crime,” despite Catholic teaching that homosexual activities are a “sin.”

He emphasized the importance of making a distinction between the two and stated, for instance, that being uncharitable to one another is also a sin. He continued by saying that the Catholic Church ought to seek to abolish laws that outlaw homosexuality in some nations.

When asked how he was doing, the 86-year-old responded, “For my age, I’m in good health. I’m typical.”

The pope has recently been confined to a wheelchair due to a knee condition.

Francis acknowledged that the knives are out against him from conservative cardinals and bishops in the wake of Benedict’s passing, but he appeared unruffled.

He claimed that although it is unpleasant, keeping it quiet is preferable.
