These sweet group of celebrities has joined together in helping communities and healthcare workers during this difficult time of the pandemic.
Octavia Spencer, Melissa McCarthy, Ben Falcone, Joel McHale, Aimee Carpenter, and Leslee Feldman have teamed up with Frontline Foods to connect local restaurants that are struggling during this period with frontline healthcare workers alike.
To make an effort successful, Frontline Foods will deliver food from the restaurants directly to hospitals and medical facilities to feed the healthcare professionals.
Meanwhile, it was initially Octavia Spencer‘s idea, who was doing it locally, and it inspired neighbors McCarthy, Falcone, and others to get involved.
Spencer explained on the Today show Wednesday morning, where she chats via video conferencing with co-host Hoda Kotb alongside McCarthy and Falcone, saying, “You’re home, and this crisis is going on across the country, and you ask yourself, how can I help? We decided by feeding the hospitals we could also help out our communities by feeding the restaurants.”
“We were doing it in a very grassroots way, and then we saw Frontline,” McCarthy explained how the organization came to grow. “There are over 400 volunteers, it’s 100% donations, it goes right to the cause, and no one gets paid. We just thought, let’s go all-in and help and become more volunteers for Frontline Foods.”
“If you see that someone is doing what you’re doing even better on a bigger scale, you want to pitch in and help out as best you can,” added Falcone.
Frontline Foods, on the other hand, is a volunteer-based organization that was formed to help during this COVID-19 crisis. From the community, it will raise money then uses it to buy meals from the local restaurants and delivers them to the frontline healthcare workers.
“Frontline Foods has quickly become a national grassroots movement, feeding healthcare workers and supporting local restaurants across the country, all powered by the incredible work of hundreds of volunteers,” said Gressel, a nurse at UCSF Medical Center Sydney, one of the co-starters of Frontline Foods, and who equally help organized the movement. “We are so humbled to be joining forces with the incredible collection of Octavia Spencer, Melissa McCarthy, Ben Falcone, Joel McHale, Aimee Carpenter, and Leslee Feldman,” she added.
