China Reports 2 New COVID Deaths As Some Restrictions Were Lifted

China confirmed two more COVID-19 deaths on Sunday, as several localities move carefully to lift anti-pandemic rules in the face of growing public outrage.

According to the National Health Commission, one death has been reported in each of the provinces of Shandong and Sichuan. There was no information provided regarding the victims’ ages or whether they had been completely immunized.

China, where the virus was initially discovered in late 2019 in the central city of Wuhan, is the last major country attempting to entirely halt transmission through quarantines, lockdowns, and mass testing.
