Authorities released body camera video of the aftermath of a fatal Oklahoma Crash allegedly caused by a teen accused of exceeding 150 mph in a Ford Mustang on Tuesday.
A video was obtained from the Stillwater Police Department showing the mangled Mustang on its side and a red Chevrolet Impala that appeared to have been demolished. The accident occurred on October 15 in Stillwater, about 64 miles northeast of Oklahoma City.
In the video, a police officer can be seen racing from car to car looking for survivors and speaking with witnesses.
A man can be heard telling the officer, “I just heard a loud bang and saw a big old fireball flip over my car.”
Luke House, 18, the driver of the Mustang, was charged with two counts of second-degree murder — one for the death of his passenger, identified by police as Ryan Begnaud, 18, and another for the death of Jeremi Smith, 40, the passenger in the Impala, police said in a statement Friday.
The driver of the Impala was taken to the hospital, according to the police department. Her condition was unclear at the time.
According to police, the crash happened shortly after 4 a.m. on State Highway 51 as House was driving east in the road’s westbound lanes.
According to police, he hit the Impala head-on before hitting a second occupied car in a convenience store parking lot and several more empty vehicles at a nearby car dealership.
According to vehicle data, House’s Mustang was travelling “in excess” of 150 mph.
House was arrested at home Thursday without incident after being briefly hospitalized, according to the police department. House’s lawyer did not immediately respond to a request for comment late Tuesday night.
According to court records, a preliminary hearing is scheduled for November 7.
