Authorities stated Tuesday that they had apprehended a guy in central Florida who was a “person of interest” in the deaths of four Oklahoma bicyclists.
Okmulgee police had previously told media that they intended to question Joseph Kennedy about the deaths of Mark Chastain, 32, Billy Chastain, 30, Mike Sparks, 32, and Alex Stevens, 29.
Okmulgee police say the four were reported missing last week before their shot and mutilated bodies were discovered in the Deep Fork River.
On Monday afternoon, shortly after labelling Kennedy a “person of interest,” police claimed Kennedy’s blue Chrysler PT Cruiser was discovered “abandoned behind a shop” in Morris.
According to an Okmulgee police statement, Kennedy was caught on Monday in Daytona Beach Shores, Florida, in a car “reported stolen to the Okmulgee County Sheriff’s Office.”
He was also arrested in connection with a shooting in Okmulgee in 2012. Kennedy was not named as a suspect in the deaths of the four bicyclists in the statement.
