Authorities said the individual passed away in DeLand, which is north of Orlando. According to authorities, a Skydiver in Florida died on Monday after his parachute failed.
According to a statement from the city’s police department, the incident was reported just before 12 p.m. at DeLand Municipal Airport, which is located 43 miles north of Orlando.
According to Ava Hanner, a department spokesperson, who talked to The Daytona Beach News-Journal, the event happened at Skydive DeLand, a nearby business with an airport location.
Requests for comment were made Monday evening, but neither the business nor the representative responded. In addition to not being able to quickly provide any information about the problem, the skydiver was not identified.
The United States Parachute Association reports that ten persons lost their lives when skydiving in the United States last year, giving a fatality rate of 0.2 per 100,000 jumps.
Since the group started keeping track of deaths in 1961, the number is at a record low, according to the association. Dozens of individuals every year died skydiving throughout the 1970s.
The group said that the majority of fatal jumps were caused by human mistakes and ascribed the declining death rate to better training, technology, and equipment.
