On Friday evening, flight 2077, which was headed for Orlando, had to turn around and return to Baltimore.
Due to an engine issue, a Spirit Airlines flight bound for Florida had to make an emergency landing in Maryland on Friday night.
Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport’s flight 2077 departed in the direction of Orlando International Airport. A representative for the airline stated in a statement on Saturday that the jet suffered a “mechanical issue” after takeoff and had to turn around.
30 minutes after departure, at 8:51 p.m., it returned to Baltimore, according to FlightAware.
The statement added, “The plane landed safely at BWI, and guests deplaned in accordance with standard procedures.”
The representative gave no additional information on what transpired.
The aircraft will be taken out of operation, according to Spirit Airlines, so that the maintenance team may inspect it.
