On Thursday morning, more than 2.4 million people in Florida remained without power while many were dealing with flooded and destroyed homes.
One of the most fatal storms to ever hit the United States, Hurricane Ian, now a tropical storm, walloped Florida on Thursday morning, leaving more than two million people without power and trapping families in their homes due to severe destruction and flooding.
Ian, a severe Category 4 hurricane that sent 150 mph gusts and a potentially fatal storm surge on Florida’s southwest coast on Wednesday afternoon, was downgraded to a tropical storm on Thursday morning.
Early on Thursday, the storm’s maximum sustained winds decreased to about 65 mph with greater gusts, but it continued to wreak havoc as it moved northeast. Later on Thursday, its core is anticipated to travel off Florida’s east coast before making landfall on South Carolina’s coast on Friday.
Power is gradually restored to Cubans nationwide as a result of widespread blackouts caused by Ian.
