Two People Died In The Fairview Fire Near Hemet; 2,000 Acres And Seven Structures Were Destroyed

The Fairview Fire southeast of Hemet, rapidly spreading west in hot conditions, has killed two people and injured another.
As of Monday night, the Fairview Fire had spread to 2,000 acres.

Around 4 p.m. on Monday, Cal Fire reported the Fairview Fire, which was located near the intersection of Fairview Avenue and Bautista Road in an unincorporated area near Hemet. By 4:50 p.m., the fire had spread to approximately 500 acres and was rapidly spreading.
As of 10 p.m. Monday, the fire had spread to 2,000 acres and was only 5% contained.

Cal Fire confirmed two deaths and one injury. Seven structures were destroyed, and several others were damaged.
Just after 5 p.m., footage from a KABC-Los Angeles helicopter showed what appeared to be several residential structures on fire.

Initially, an evacuation order was issued for 1,584 homes in the area roughly bounded by State Street to the west, Thornton Avenue to the north, Fairview Avenue to the east, and Polly Butte Road to the south.

Monday evening, the evacuation zone was expanded to include the areas south of Stetson Avenue, north of Cactus Valley Road, west of Fairview Avenue, and east of State Street.

Tahquitz High School, 4425 Titan Trail in Hemet, have a care and reception centre.
As of 6 p.m. Monday, a couple of hundred firefighters were on the scene.

According to the San Diego office of the National Weather Service, the Fairview Fire area is currently experiencing very hot, dry, and windy conditions, with winds expected to decrease this evening. However, temperatures are expected to stay warm and dry overnight.

Meanwhile, on Monday afternoon, another fire broke out in the San Bernardino National Forest near Big Bear.

According to the San Bernardino National Forest, the Radford Fire covered 50 acres with 0% containment at around 5:15 p.m. on Monday, with approximately 140 personnel assigned to the fire.
The fire had extended to 200 acres with 0% containment by 7:15 p.m.

According to the Yucaipa Police Department, an evacuation order has been issued from Glass Road to South Fork River Road.
According to CalTrans, State Route 38 is currently closed from Mill Creek Road to Lakewood Road.
