9 Fascinating Unsolved Historical Mysteries

1. WHERE IS JIMMY HOFFA?

After his sudden disappearance on July 30, 1975, from Oakland County, Jimmy Hoffa was pronounced dead officially in 1982 after a series of investigations and searches. 

However, in 2006, alleged hitman Richard “The Iceman” Kuklinski, confessed to having killed and disposed of his body in a scrap yard. This resulted in FBI agents searching the mentioned area but finding nothing. To date, the whereabouts and remains of JIMMY HOFFA remain a puzzle. 

2. CLEOPATRA’S TOMB 

Cleopatra VII and her lover, Mark Antony, were laid together in a tomb after their deaths in 30 B.C.

Early writers gave the location of the tomb near the temple of Isis. Cleopatra was revered as an Egyptian goddess so she was buried alongside statues made of gold, silver, and emeralds with very precious stones and ornaments. 

However, the tomb has not been seen leaving it as a mystery after excavations were carried out at present time Taposiris Magna. The location was home to quite a number of tombs dating to the era when Cleopatra VII ruled Egypt. While many argue that the tomb might have been discovered and looted, some say it’s a curse she made that no man would ever find her tomb after her death. 

3. WHO KILLED JFK

Remaining unsolved, on Nov 22, 1963, the president of the United States of America, John F. Kennedy was assassinated by Lee Harvey Oswald while he was having a ride through Dallas. 

However, prior to the date of the hearing, on Nov. 24, 1963, Oswald was shot multiple times by a nightclub owner, Jack Ruby killing Oswald and leaving unanswered questions. On Jan. 3, 1967, Jack Ruby died of lung cancer. 

 

4. FATE OF THE ARK OF THE COVENANT

Jerusalem was seized by the Babylonian army in 587 B.C. by King Nebuchadnezzar II. During this period, the first temple got damaged causing the indigenes to flee in fear. 

The ark which was said to contain the written 10 commandments after the battle was however not seen anymore. While some claim the ark was hidden before the city was seized, others claim it was carried back to Babylon. 

5. WHO WAS JACK THE RIPPER?

After five women were brutally murdered in London in 1888, quite a number of letters were received from the police from Jack the Ripper. These letters taunted the police’s attempt on finding out who he was. 

After several investigations and search ups, Jack the Ripper was never found, although a woman by the name of Lizzie Williams was suspected to be the ripper, she was never arrested or charged. 

6. WAS CAESARION TRULY CAESAR’S SON?

Cleopatra VII named her son Ceasarion in 47 B.C. Cleopatra mentioned Ceasarion was a son to popular ruler Julius Caesar. 

Caesar, however, never acknowledged the son as his furthermore, a friend of his Gaius Oppius went on to publish a booklet denying the statement made by Cleopatra. This left the birth of Ceasarion as a mystery as to who Ceasarions real father was. 

7. IS THERE A MONEY PIT ON OAK ISLAND?

For over two centuries, tales of a money pit have been spread across Oak Island, which is located off Nova Scotia, Canada. 

Rumoured to be holding treasure and money hidden by a pirate, Capt. William Kidd during the 70’s, countless undertakers have been made to recover this lost treasure, however, none has been found. 

8. IS THE COPPER SCROLL TREASURE REAL?

A copper scroll was discovered in 1952, by archaeologists, as well as other sea scrolls, at the site of Qumran. The scrolls had writings imprinted on them.

The writings detailed a large amount of hidden gold and silver treasure it was said to be unbelievable and false. 

9. WHEN WAS JESUS BORN?

Although Christians celebrate December 25 as the birth of Jesus, he however wasn’t born on the chosen date. 

It is in fact said he was born on Jan 6 or 7, no one truly knows the date Jesus was born.
