In northern Iowa, a house fire early on Wednesday morning claimed the lives of four children and injured two more.
Around five in the morning, Mason City firefighters received a call about a fire in an older house in an area close to the city’s centre.
According to a press release from the Mason City Fire Department, when crews arrived, they could see flames in the first and second levels of the home.
John Michael McClure, 12, Odin Thor McClure, 10, Drako McClure, 6, and Phenix McClure, 3, were the four children who perished.
According to the fire department, Ravan Dawn McClure, 11, and John Michael McClure, 55, both had burns and were being treated in a hospital.
Although the cause of the fire was unknown, the fire department said it didn’t believe there was any wrongdoing.
The population of Mason City is roughly 27,000 people. It is located 110 miles north of Des Moines in northern Iowa.
