11 People Were Extremely Injured Amid Turbulence On Hawaiian Airlines Flight

After numerous passengers were jolted in the air, dozens of passengers on a Hawaiian Airlines flight suffered injuries that necessitated the transport of at least 20 people for medical attention.

The terrifying information was released on Sunday and confirmed by the airline.

They claim that HA Flight 35, which was carrying 288 passengers on a flight from Phoenix to Honolulu this morning, had severe turbulence that reportedly sent passengers flying in all directions, including upwards and toward the ceiling.

Currently, images and videos showing several of the higher luggage compartments crushed online are making the rounds. Presumably, this is because bodies crashed into them.

In total, 36 persons were hurt; 20 of them required hospitalization, with 11 of them having critical conditions. There is a video of several of these passengers receiving care on the ground; you can see them being carried away while wearing neck restraints.

It’s unknown what exactly caused the turbulence, which is said to have started around 30 minutes before the jet touched down. The youngest of the group is reportedly just 14 months old, and both passengers and crew members are claimed to have suffered injuries.

In the end, the jet was able to land, and Hawaiian Airlines said they are monitoring everyone who was impacted.

“Medical care was provided to several guests & crewmembers at the airport for minor injuries while some were swiftly transported to local hospitals for further care. We are supporting all affected passengers & employees and are continuing to monitor the situation” they added.

Particularly for the 11 who were completely thrashed, the wounds sound severe. They are described as bruising, cuts, brain injuries, and in extreme cases, even loss of consciousness. Upon touchdown, EMS personnel responded to the incident as a “mass casualty emergency.”

Some passengers are said to have been unable to buckle their seatbelts in time as a result of the sudden turbulence, which seems like it happened out of the blue.

Regarding what might have caused the turbulence, the AP quotes an NWS meteorologist who mentions reports of thunderstorms in the vicinity that might have impacted the Hawaiian Airlines flight path.
