According to Montgomery County Fire & Rescue Assistant Chief Daniel Ogren, firefighters were called to the garden apartment complex on Quince Orchard Boulevard in Gaithersburg at roughly 8:40 a.m. for a building explosion and fire with a partial collapse.
According to accounts, there were people on balconies, and 10 people with injuries that weren’t considered life-threatening were taken to hospitals, according to Ogren.
Although no one has been reported missing, firemen intend to check the structure once it is safe to do so to make sure nobody else is present, he said.
According to Ogren, there is no information on what might have caused the explosion.
