The Atlanta Police Department said that a shooting occurred nearby Atlantic Station on Saturday night in Atlanta, Georgia, leaving one person dead and five others hurt.
Atlanta Police Lt. Germain Dearlove stated in a press conference Saturday night that five people were shot and later taken to nearby hospitals, while one male was pronounced dead at the site. Their ailments’ severity was not made clear.
Around 8 p.m., a group of persons was led off the grounds of Atlantic Station by station staff and Atlanta police officers who were not on duty, according to the police. According to Dearlove, they were minors who had been expelled for “unruly behaviour” and curfew infractions. The victims, according to the police, were between the ages of 15 and 21.
After the party was taken off the premises, Dearlove claimed that a dispute at Atlantic Station resulted in the shooting. Investigations are being conducted to determine the origin of the dispute.
According to early evidence, this dispute was between two groups, with two potential shooters, said Dearlove. Police are trying to identify the persons involved.
At this point, the number of rounds fired is unknown to the authorities.
