Charming Photos Of A Young Queen Elizabeth II, 1930s-1950s

Elizabeth II was Queen of the United Kingdom and 14 other sovereign countries from February 6th, 1952 till her death in 2022. She reigned for 70 years and seven months as the longest British monarch.

She was the first child of the Duke and Duchess of York, who eventually became King George VI and Queen Elizabeth. She was born in Mayfair, London. She became the heir presumptive in 1936.

She was educated at home and eventually started to take public duties by serving in the Auxiliary Territorial Service during the Second World War. She got married to Philip Mountbatten, a former prince of Greece and Denmark in November 1947. 

The marriage lasted till his death in April 2021, and they had four children in the union that lasted 73 years. The children: Charles, King of the United Kingdom; Anne, Princess Royal; Prince Andrew, Duke of York; and Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex.

Elizabeth became queen at 25 and Head of the Commonwealth. During her reign as the constitutional monarch, the countries under her underwent major changes like devolution in the United Kingdom, the decolonization of Africa, unrest in Northern Ireland, and the United Kingdom’s accession to the European Communities and withdrawal from the European Union.

She was the longest-living and reigning British monarch, the oldest and longest-serving incumbent head of state, and the second-longest verifiable reigning sovereign monarch in the history of the world.

She died on the 8th of September, 2022.
