Earlier on Thursday, it was understood that controversial rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine had been released earlier than scheduled from prison over coronavirus fears. The statement from his camp claims he has asthma, which puts him at high risk of death if he contracts the virus. He was initially sentenced for two years and will be due to be released by July 31, but he will now serve the rest of his sentence confined to his home.

Now, the 20-year-old rapper YNW Melly, who was charged with two counts of first-degree murder last year, has contracted coronavirus while awaiting trials in Floridas Broward County Jail.

On Thursday afternoon, the rapper’s Twitter and Instagram account shared the news on his wall.

“Melly has tested positive for COVID-19 today while awaiting his trial in Broward County Jail. He’ll be filing a motion for restricted release in hopes of better care due to any jails not being prepared to treat this new virus. He hopes for your support and to recover soon #prayformelly send positive energy to him please.” The accounts stated.

YNW Mell,y whose real name is Jamell Demons, is still awaiting jail sentence for double murder charges leveled on him, to which he pleads not guilty. However, he will be facing life imprisonment or a death penalty if found guilty.
