What We Can All Learn From Rihanna’s Pregnancy Journey.
In January 2022, Rihanna broke the internet when she announced her pregnancy to the world on Twitter and Instagram, showing off her baby bump in an oversized pick jacket which she unbuttoned to reveal her big round belly adorned with pieces of jewellery.
What is so unique about Rihanna’s nine months journey is how the “Diamond” Crooner and billionaire entrepreneur unapologetically flaunts her pregnancy.
Here are a few things we can all learn from Rihanna.
• Pregnant doesn’t have to mean unfashionable. Rihanna has redefined fashion for pregnant women in the world. The 33year old woman, speaking to Vogue said she found out she was pregnant and absolutely refused to shop in the maternity aisle. She was quoted to have said, “…It’s too much fun to get dressed up. I’m not going to let that part disappear because my body is changing”. Usually, maternity outfits are designed to be large, boring jumpsuits and dresses. Rihanna wanted no part in that and instead chose to dress up as she normally would.
• Pregnancy is the body doing “incredible things”.
“My body is doing incredible things right now, and I’m not going to be ashamed of that. This time should feel celebratory because why should you be hiding your pregnancy?’’ Rihanna considers pregnancy to be the body of a woman doing incredible things and wonders why any woman would hide her pregnancy instead of proudly showing it to the world.
Rihanna embodies what it means to simply “do you”.
There aren’t a lot of women who like Rihanna proudly go places with their pregnant bellies out in the open, who adorn their bellies and are just as fashionable while pregnant. Rihanna however did not care about not having a role model in that department and certainly did not mind being the first popular celebrity to proudly flaunt her pregnancy. She paid absolutely no attention to what people would say or think and has a lot of fun dressing herself up.
The pregnant 33-year-old billionaire graced the cover of Vogue in April and a statue was created from this cover for the 2022 Met Gala.
It is certain that now that Rihanna has proudly flaunted her pregnancy, more women will be proud to flaunt theirs too.
