Six months after The Weekend released his After Hours album, the singer is readying a new one. In an interview for the cover of Rolling Stone, Abel revealed that he might have another album ready by the end of the pandemic.

“I might have another album ready to go by the time this quarantine is over,” Weekend tells the magazine.

For the past four months, Abel has been “cooled up” at his L.A. condo producing new song out of a makeshift studio in between binging on Korean horror films.

Meanwhile, fans can even be expecting better than his previous album, according to the Canadian singer. “I’m guilty of wanting to outdo my last album,” he says. “But it’s never like, ‘I’ve got to do the same type of song.’ I’m so happy I’m not like that. My palette is so wide.”

Moreover, Rolling Stone revealed that the new music is a “whole different world from After Hours.”

“I’m trying to find a perfect balance with the film and the music, and so far it’s going really well,” he adds. “I think I might have cracked the code.”

The Weekend has been writing a secretive screenplay. “I can’t talk about it too much yet,” he teases. “I really want it to be official.”

After Hours debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in March and spawned hits including “Heartless” and “Blinding Lights,” which is currently No. 5 on the Hot 100.
