Rapper, Fred The Godson has died aged 35 after his battle with coronavirus. Earlier this month, the Bronx rapper revealed his diagnosis after he was admitted to a hospital in New York City.
Reports said he was showing some signs of improvement as he was placed on a ventilator, but his health deteriorated in recent days before he finally gave in to the deadly disease.
Fred’s last Instagram update was on April 6, where he shared a photo of him in the hospital with an oxygen mask, and he captioned, “I’m in here wit this Corvus 19 shit! Please keep me in y’all prayers!!!! #godisgreat.”
For the past decade, Fred has been a prominent figure in New York rap. The Retaliation rapper, who also collaborated with the likes of Diddy, Meek Mill, and Pusha-T, dropped two projects this year so far. There were his solo Payback and Training Day, a joint album with Jay Pharoah.
Before his death, his wife, LeeAnn Jemmott, had expressed her worry and concern after being told by the doctors that her husband might not make it alive. She told Bronx’s News 12 in the interview that “It was just like — he’s gone and he’s gonna die, that’s it. I don’t even know how I felt; I just felt like I was going to die.”
Fred’s demise has left much space to be filled, especially in his family, as his wife had then admitted. “We need him like he is our strength; he is our good vibes, our positivity,” Jemmott had said.
Following the sad news of his death, his peers, including French Montana and Fat Joe, have all registered their tributes and message of condolence to the family and his loved ones on social media.
May his Good soul rest in peace. Amen!
