Bryan Christopher Kohberger, the accused killer of four University of Idaho students, changed the title of his car five days after the murder.

On Nov. 18, he applied to transfer the title of his white 2015 Hyundai Elantra from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to Whitman County, Washington, according to public records. It was released on December 5th.

The reason for the title change is unknown.

Deputies in Hancock County, Indiana, stopped the couple on December 15 for allegedly following a vehicle too closely. He was released with a verbal warning, only to be pulled over by Indiana State Police nine minutes later for the same traffic infraction. According to state police, Kohberger was released with a warning.

Police in Moscow, Idaho, investigating the deaths of four college students, had asked for the public’s assistance in identifying the owner of a white Hyundai Elantra seen near the crime scene on Nov. 13.

Both the Indiana State Police and the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office have stated that there was no information available at the time of the stops about a possible suspect in the slayings or any information related to the license plate number of the car that was stopped.

Kohberger, a graduate student at Washington State University, was arrested last week at his parents’ home in Albrightsville, Pennsylvania, in connection with the deaths of Ethan Chapin, 20, Madison Mogen, 21, Xana Kernodle, 20, and Kaylee Goncalves, 21.

He appeared in court in Monroe County, Pennsylvania, on Tuesday and waived extradition. He was arrested in Idaho on Wednesday night and charged with four counts of first-degree murder and burglary.
