A Cameroonian student named Kem Senou Pavel Daryl who is aged 21 was reported by the Chinese Embassy in Cameroon to have contracted the virus while living in Zhengzhou, the capital of China’s Henan province.
The young Cameroonian has shown signs of recovery as he is currently no longer hospitalized and is under a two-week quarantine in his dormitory as he continues making a recovery. To further ensure that he has completely recovered, a recent CT scan did not show any signs of the virus, making him the first known African to be infected and the first to be cured. as at the time of this writing, no African has reported being found with the disease.
according to the young Cameroonian, he did not want to take the disease back to Africa, and since he has been cured, he does not have any reason to go back also, as the medical fees were paid by the Chinese government.
