Fan Banned 40 Years For Storming Pitch, Punching Player During Europa League Match

The fan who invaded the pitch and assaulted a player during a Europa League match last month has received a huge punishment… with Dutch club PSV declaring the intruder persona non grata for the next 40 YEARS.

Remember how, on Feb. 23, a spectator interrupted the PSV vs. Sevilla match at Philips Stadium in the Netherlands… by running onto the pitch and punching Sevilla goalie Marko Dmitrovi in the face?

PSV said in a statement that the offender, who is currently serving a two-month prison sentence, is not only banned from the club for four decades but is also barred from entering the area around the stadium for two years… and could face a UEFA fine.

PSV also stated that the 20-year-old guy should never have been allowed to enter the stadium in the first place… because he was already serving a ban for a previous incident, but he was able to slip through the gates using a friend’s ticket.

Of course, prison time and a 40-year ban weren’t the only things the guy got, as Dmitrovi levelled him with one punch following the ambush, knocking him to the ground.

The invader tried to fight back… but security was able to take him off the field with the support of players from both teams.

The incident has triggered internal PSV talks… as the team tries to find better ways to enforce stadium bans in the future.
