Elon Musk allegedly reactivated the suspended accounts of several well-known journalists whose accounts had been suspended for allegedly doxxing him.

The head of Twitter issued a statement late on Friday. “The people have spoken. Accounts that doxxed my location will have their suspensions lifted now.”

Musk is obviously referring to a Twitter poll he conducted Thursday night, asking users whether the reporters’ accounts should be immediately restored or suspended for seven days. Over 58 percent of voters chose to have the accounts reopened right away. Elon then complied.

At least seven journalists’ accounts were suspended by Musk earlier this week, including Donie O’Sullivan of CNN, Drew Harwell of the Washington Post, Matt Binder of Mashable, Ryan Mac of the New York Times, and Micah Lee (The Intercept).

Elon said that the journalists doxed him online by releasing his personal information and movements and utilized publicly available data to follow his private jet.

The journalists, however, argued that they never leaked Elon’s confidential information and that the real reason Musk temporarily suspended their accounts was due to their negative coverage of him.

There was additional drama. Musk participated in an online discussion with the journalists he suspended.

The media drew attention to the fact that Elon was acting in the same way he had accused the previous Twitter executives of acting when they censored the Hunter Biden story.

Musk tied a bow on it and left the chat room. “If you dox, you get suspended, end of story, that’s it.”
